Kathmandu: Ramesh Bista, the Acting President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), has resigned. Bista took over as acting president after former FNJ President Bipul Pokhrel resigned.
Bista stepped down citing complications in the membership verification process, which hindered the election from being held. In his resignation, addressed to FNJ Vice President Bala Adhikari and General Secretary Roshan Puri, Bista expressed dissatisfaction with the organization’s practices, accusing it of granting membership to around 400 individuals who were not involved in journalism and had not completed the necessary forms.
On Thursday, Bista had written to the FNJ’s Central Election Committee, requesting the postponement of the upcoming election program. Following his letter, the committee announced the suspension of the election schedule indefinitely.
