Today, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the Shree Galainath Secondary School Building in Shailyashikhar Municipality, Darchula District, Nepal. Mr. Bijay Singh Dhami, Mayor of Shailyashikhar Municipality, and Shri Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, were present for the ceremony. This project, with a total estimated cost of NRs. 27.30 million, is being undertaken with financial assistance from the Government of India under the Nepal-India Development Cooperation initiative.
The project aims to construct a double-storied school building, along with toilet blocks, office facilities, and furniture, to enhance the educational infrastructure at Shree Galainath Secondary School. It falls under the category of High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs), as per the bilateral Agreement between the Governments of India and Nepal. This initiative signifies the strong development partnership between the two countries.
Mayor Dhami expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Indian Government in uplifting various sectors in Nepal, emphasizing its significance in the development of the region.
The new school building is expected to provide improved educational facilities for students in Shailyashikhar Municipality, Darchula, fostering a conducive learning environment and contributing to the overall development of education in the area.
Since 2003, the Government of India has implemented over 551 HICDPs in Nepal, completing 489 projects. Sudurpashchim Province has seen 40 such projects, including 10 in Darchula. Additionally, India has gifted 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various institutions in Nepal, with 60 ambulances and 20 school buses allocated to Sudurpashchim Province, including 8 ambulances and 2 school buses for Darchula District.
The extensive cooperation between India and Nepal underscores their commitment to mutual development and prosperity. The HICDPs reflect India’s unwavering support in bolstering Nepal’s efforts towards infrastructure development, particularly in vital sectors like education.
