The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Police Circle, Balaju has been relieved of his duties following the tension created on Monday due to the protest of transporters.
During the protest, Balaju police chief DSP Ravin Bishta’s car number 144 was vandalized and set on fire. Balaju police vehicle No. 1 Jh 7224 was also vandalized. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Himalaya Kumar Shrestha told Online Khabar that the Valley Police Office removed Bista from his duties to strengthen the security system as per the need after the incident. DSP Manojit Kunwar has been sent in his place.
When the traffic police increased the fines, the demonstration turned violent, vandalism and arson took place in the bus park, Machhapokhari and other areas. At the bus park, the mob broke into the mobile shop and looted it. The police is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
